Top 5 Zoom Effects

Invisible Deck
What else! The most versatile trick deck tops another list! Curtesy of the fact that any card can be named by anyone, anywhere and you have it reversed in your deck. There are no restrictions it is simple, direct and powerful magic for every occasion. It will be the one they are all talking about long after you are gone.

Torn and Restored Newspaper
I'm hesitant to actually recommend which version of this classic you should be doing. Axel Hecklau's Newsflash is currently the most popular with its instant restoration, but personally I like the slow piece restoration and use Alex Elmsley version. There are plenty to choose from and I can't think of one which is difficult. It uses no spectator and is easy to see and understand, perfect for virtual shows for all ages.

Shattered
Honestly most roulette style routines will work as long they don't require a spectator to actually pick any thing up. I'd mix the bottles/nails etc using a turntable, turn and spin. I named Shattered because it has brilliant convincer at the start when you actually break the bottle which I think is the best for Zoom shows.

Cups and Balls
If you don't have a set shame on you. If you have seen any street performing magician, you will know how much interaction you can get from an audience without them actually needing to at your side. Lots of fun and magic. You could also play with angles/ secret accomplices and ridiculous loads which would be impossible in other settings.

Professors Nightmare
I could have chosen numerous rope routines and if you have a favourite, I can't see why it wouldn't work on a Zoom show. Everyone understands the properties of rope and you can easily demonstrate no gimmicks by lifting something with it. Similar to the Cups and Balls the interaction is banter and not hindered by being virtual at all. John Allen has a great tip for showing the three ropes all the same length in his book Experience, ideal for a Zoom show.
