TOP 5 Tricks used by both Beginners and Professionals

Sponge Balls
These just won't go away, I'd believe they were around with the dinosaurs. Oblivious to time, fashion or environment the humble sponge balls never fails to amaze. They provide in the hands magic for almost no skill, you can almost feel guilty. Please don't overlook these but also don't do too much. A short punchy routine is all you need.

Crazy Mans Handcuffs
Magic with rubber bands hardly sounds professional, yet like sponge balls this simple trick - one rubber band passing through another - gets such a huge reaction for such little work. Consequently, band magic has come a field in itself, but Crazy Mans Handcuffs can be a three phase routine in itself and phew if any other come close for impact.

Phil Plus Outdone
You could call this a gaffed deck but I see it a wonderful routine, with two phases both of which pack a punch. It is self-working and leaves amazes the volunteer to the point of frustration. It is so cheap it feels like it is being given away, any professional or hobbyist not using it is seriously missing a trick! The only drawback is the name and card are the same every time unless you buy a few blank versions and write your own, which can make it more personal. PropDog's master Dave Bonsall uses it so need I say more!

Professors Nightmare
I can still remember the first time I saw this demonstrated, I bought it straight away. It is simple to follow, easy to do and filled with magic. Of course, ever since George Sands published his routine people have been extending it, including Daryl and Richard Sanders. All start with the same basic premise though and really it remains the strongest part of all the routines. I for one still use the story that came with it, it is perfect. It is cheap and fits in your pocket too. A professional routine ideal for the hobbyist.

Invisible Deck
It's a one trick pony of a deck, but one hell of an effect. It is hard to describe how good this deck is, a spectator names any card and you have predicted it! As there is no force and any card can be named a professional can use it on every table, an amateur can show it amongst the same group of friends. The routine can be as drawn out with comedy if you wish or just a quick mind blowing effect. There is a reason it is in every professional’s bag.
