Showing of a PropDog customer custom project
PropDog is unqiue in that we make custom projects for people. You don't need to be a T.V personaity or Las Vegas superstar to have PropDog make you something special.
Tom Brace is an up and rising magician looking to take a show to the Edinburgh Fringe. He approached us for a 'Teleportation Device' to use as part of Pop Haydn's routine by the same name. He didn't have a crystal clear vision so PropDog had a fair bit of freedom whilst sticking to the brief. A budget was settled on and research and deveoplment began.
The major development was the method for igniting the flash paper. Nichrome wire is the coomon solution, however this needs regular replacement an could fail in a live situation. As you can see in the video Dave opted for a rather cool electric arc which is 100% reliable and just really cool.
The majority of the parts used were taken from original antique items, the actual box itself and the throw switch for example, the sourcing was a painstaking process. It suddenly became clear that to produce an item PropDog were proud of within Tom's budget was nigh on imposible.
However Dave would not compromise (the knob on the front is a genuine bakelite one!) and so the internal budget was thrown out the window while we'd still honour the price for Tom.
The result, I think everyone will agree is a true magic prop any magician would be proud to use, and PropDog are very happy to put they name to.
