The Magic Has Gone!

the magic has gone

Regulars at a village pub are up in arms after pub bosses called time on a popular local act.
Drinkers at Old Kilpatrick’s Ettrick bar are often treated to a magic show, courtesy of pub regular Kenny Arundel.
Self-styled magic man Kenny shows off his talents in the boozer by having fellow drinkers pick a card from his deck.

The culmination of the trick leads to the deck being thrown in the air, and the chosen card sticking to the ceiling of the Dumbarton Road bar.

But in a case of ‘now you see it, now you don’t’, pub bosses have ordered the collection of 20 or so cards, which were a testament to his talents, to be removed from the ceiling.

And they have barred him from performing the stunt again.

Villager Kenny claims to have entertained scores of locals, passers-by and tourists through the party piece, the jewel in his magic crown.

His efforts have been thwarted, however, by an order said the have been handed down by the privately-omened chain’s area manager.

Kenny branded the news over his “talking point” trick, a “bolt from the blue” and branded pub bosses”killjoys”.

A spokesman for the Ettrick told the Post that the cards were being removed from the ceiling for a paint job, but refused to confirm if a similar collection will be allowed to gather there again.
