Just as we were about to go to press we received the sad news of the demise of Anthony Owen. Surprise and shock are the immediate emotions you feel when someone so young and yet so prominent and talented leaves us, and so we felt it right that we should put a short tribute to him in this issue in order to reflect on and mark his passing.
It’s always difficult to transition from the above news to happier things, but I’m sure Anthony would expect and want us to do so. This issue we celebrate the brilliance of Rubik’s Cube maestro Henry Harrius, who has raised the bar in terms of magic with the famous puzzle and in doing so has received huge acclaim as well as prizes! We are delighted to welcome him to the cover of Magicseen.
Also in this issue we get to sit down and chat to Zak Stone, whose story shows just what can be achieved in the face of unfavourable circumstances, and also illusionist Morgan Strebler, whose character is as big as his act! We thank both gentleman for taking their time to speak with us.
The secret to good magic is not just having an abundance of skill, but in knowing how to mask any necessary moves in order to make the handling as seamless as possible. Our article Look The Other Way considers the art of misdirection and how you can harness it to improve the look of your magic.
We also have an interesting article by Dominic Reyes on how to avoid magic burnout, a situation that can happen to those first getting into magic if they don’t know how to read the warning signs.
